

INGREDIENTS
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar (grind regular sugar)
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- ½ tsp pineapple essence or rose essence
- 1 cup maida (all-purpose flour)
- ¼ cup custard powder
- 2–3 tbsp cashew powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- ½ cup tutti frutti
- A few chopped cashews
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar for about 4–5 minutes.

- Add the pineapple (or rose) essence, cardamom powder, and orange zest.
- Add the remaining dry ingredients in batches and mix well.
- Fold in the tutti frutti and chopped cashews.

- Mix with a spatula.
- Bring the dough together using your hands.
- If the dough feels dry, add 2–3 tbsp milk.
- Roll the dough into a cylinder, then shape it into a rectangle.

- Wrap the dough in cling wrap and refrigerate for 2–3 hours.

- Remove from the refrigerator and cut into ¼-inch thick slices.

- Arrange the biscuit slices on a baking tray.

- Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 12–15 minutes, or until the bottoms turn golden brown.

- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
- Your famous Hyderabad Karachi Biscuits are ready to enjoy.
